Apple overtakes Cocacola as world's number 1 most valuable brand

Apple overtakes Cocacola as world's number 1 most valuable brand

For thirteen years, Cocacola was the world's number one most valuable brand...but not anymore. In 2013, two brands took over - Apple and Google, leaving Cocacola at number three.

From New York Times
Apple is the new most valuable brand in the world, according to a closely followed annual report. The report, to be released next Monday, is from Interbrand, a corporate identity and brand consulting company owned by the Omnicom Group that has been compiling what it calls the Best Global Brands report since 2000. The previous No. 1 brand, Coca-Cola, fell to No. 3.
Not only has Apple replaced Coca-Cola as first among the 100 most valuable brands based on criteria that include financial performance, this is the first time that the soft drink known for slogans like "It's the real thing" has not been No. 1.

Apple's arrival in the top spot was perhaps "a matter of time," Jez Frampton, global chief executive at Interbrand, said in a recent interview. Apple was No. 2 last year, climbing from No. 8 in the 2011 report.

"What is it they say, 'Long live the king'?" Mr. Frampton asked. "This year, the king is Apple."

The 2013 report begins: "Every so often, a company changes our lives, not just with its products, but with its ethos. This is why, following Coca-Cola's 13-year run at the top of Best Global Brands, Interbrand has a new No. 1 — Apple."

The report estimates the value of the Apple brand at $98.3 billion, up 28 percent from the 2012 report. The value of the Coca-Cola brand also rose, by 2 percent to $79.2 billion, but that was not sufficient to give Coca-Cola a 14th year as Interbrand's most valuable brand.

Although "Coca-Cola is an efficient, outstanding brand marketer, no doubt about it," Mr. Frampton said, Apple and other leading technology brands have become "very much the poster child of the marketing community."

That is underscored by the brand in second place in the new report: Google, which rose from fourth place last year. In fact, of the top 10 Best Global Brands for 2013, five are in technology: Apple; Google; Microsoft, No. 5, unchanged from last year; Samsung, 8, compared with 9 last year; and Intel, 9, compared with 8 last year.

Samsung's ascent followed the company's adoption of a new brand strategy called the Brand Ideal, which includes "a greater focus on social purpose," Sue Shim, executive vice president and chief marketing officer at Samsung, said by e-mail. That reflected research indicating American consumers would switch brands to "one that was associated with improving people's lives," she added.

I.B.M. — No. 4 in 2013, down a notch from 2012 — is ranked as a business services brand. Otherwise, technology would account for six of the top 10.

"Brands like Apple and Google and Samsung are changing our behavior: how we buy, how we communicate with each other, even whether we speak with each other," Mr. Frampton said. "They have literally changed the way we live our lives."

Among other transformative technology brands that performed well in the new report was Facebook, which climbed to 52 from 69 last year, its first year on the list.

However, not all technology brands fared well. BlackBerry, which tumbled last year to 93 from 56 in 2011, has disappeared from the list. And Nokia, which dropped to 19 from 14 in 2011, finished this year in 57th place — "the biggest faller" among the 100, Mr. Frampton said.

Among nontechnology brands, a notable addition to the list was Chevrolet, at 89, the first General Motors brand to rank among the Best Global Brands.

"It feels good to hit the list for the first time," Alan Batey, global head of Chevrolet at G.M., said in a telephone interview. "It's a great first step, but we've got a long way to go. There are a lot of big brands in front of us."

The milestone reflects how General Motors has been "making a conscious effort to globalize Chevrolet," Mr. Batey said, selling the brand in 140 countries in ads that play up attributes like "value for money and designs that move hearts and minds."

Commonwealth, the creative agency for Chevrolet, "played a key role" in helping the brand make the list, he added. Commonwealth is part of the McCann Worldgroup division of the Interpublic Group of Companies.

Last year, when Coca-Cola finished atop the Best Global Brands list for the 13th consecutive time, an executive at the Coca-Cola Company acknowledged the streak but noted that "nothing lasts forever."

A year later, the executive, Joseph V. Tripodi, executive vice president and chief marketing and commercial leadership officer, had this reaction: "Of course, we would like to remain on top of the list forever. That said, we are honored to continue to be included among such an esteemed group of global brands, and we congratulate Apple and Google, both valued partners of ours."

"We've seen the value of technology brands rise as they create new ways for people to stay connected virtually," Mr. Tripodi said by e-mail. "We understand this, as the lasting power of our brand is built on the social moment of sharing a Coca-Cola with friends and family."

"Creating these simple moments and delivering on our brand promise each and every day remains our focus," he added, "as we continue to grow the value of brand Coca-Cola for decades to come."

If it is consolation, Coca-Cola remains far ahead of Apple and Google in likes on Facebook fan pages. Coca-Cola has 73.2 million, compared with 9.8 million for Apple and 15.1 million for Google.

ASUU Strike: Jonathan calls for review of labour laws .

Abuja – President Goodluck Jonathan on Sunday advocated a review of labour laws to curtail the excesses of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) and other labour unions.

The President, who made the call during a Presidential media chat in Abuja, urged the striking members of ASUU to return to work in the interest of their students and the education sector.

The President also said it was inconceivable that lecturers in state-owned universities would go on strike over issues concerning the allowances of lecturers in federal universities.

He said such a situation would not occur if well-guided and well-thought out laws were in place regulating labour union activities
Jonathan also said that the N79 billion Earned Allowance arrears, which was the major reason for the ASUU strike, was not supposed to be paid from the federation account.

According to the President, earned allowances ought to be paid from the Internally Generated Revenue of the universities, if a good labour law is in place.

Jonathan called on the striking ASUU to reconsider its stand by accepting government offer, and call its members back to the classrooms.

The President reiterated the commitment of his administration to adequately fund the universities and provide the necessary infrastructure to aid the education sector

Jonathan said that the PDP-led administration had done quite well, despite all the odds and challenges

According to him, Nigeria is better off in the past years of the PDP-led government with improved standard of living, building of more federal universities, improved telecommunication, railways and roads.

The President assured that with the commitment of his administration to the privatisation of the power sector, electricity supply would become stable by the end of the first quarter of 2014.

MAKURDI—No fewer than 33 persons were feared dead in a fresh outbreak of fighting between suspected Fulani herdsmen and native farmers in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State.

Fulani Herdsmen Vanguard gathered from eyewitnesses that the crisis, which erupted Saturday and lasted till yesterday, some of the victims burnt beyond recognition. It also led to the burning down of over 30 houses and huts, including several farmlands and fish ponds owned by the natives. According to the source, "the Fulani herdsmen had invaded Ojantele, Okpagabi and Ibadan in Agatu council on Saturday, killing close to 10 people.

"From there, they ambushed about three people from Agatu, who were going to a neighbouring villages in Apa Local Government Area of the state and slaughtered them in cold blood." The unwarranted killing and destruction of houses, huts and farms prompted a reprisal attack on Sunday at the Fulani settlement in a boarder village between Apa and Agatu, where a free for all ensued leading to the death of many more people.

"The development has led to villagers living at the border of both Apa and Agatu councils fleeing their abode and taking refuge in neighouring towns and villages for fear of being killed by the mercenaries, who have taken over the fighting."

SHOCKER!! 15 Year old Girl Frozen for 500 Years - A Sacrifice Ritual of Incan Empire!! (MUST READ)

The picture is indeed a 15 year old real girl who was frozen to death about 500 years back, during the rule of Incan Empire. This girl was one among the three frozen children who were found from the 22,000-foot summit of a volcano in Chilean border called Mount Llullaillaco, in the year 1999. This 15 year old frozen girl named La Doncella, "the maiden," was being prepared by Researchers at the Museum of High Altitude Archaeology to display it to the world. One of the museum's designer and director Gabriel E. Miremont said, "These are dead people, Indian people".

Children were sacrificed like this as a part of a religious ritual called capacocha, where beautiful and healthy children including girls were chosen to be frozen to death. They were made to walk hundreds of miles amidst ceremonies and then taken to the summit of Llullaillaco, where they were fed with chicha (maize beer), and once they felt asleep, they were placed in underground niches where they will freeze to death. The cold, dry and thin air underground preserved these bodies for hundreds of years making them look real. The Inca people practiced child sacrifice and considered it as an honor to be chosen for sacrifice, because according to them, these children did not die, but will have joined their ancestors who shall later watch over their villages from the mountain tops like angels.

Nollywood stars who Changed career from acting to Pastor-Zack Orji and Others

Although, many have criticised their decisions to embrace Christ, blaming such decisions  principally on  the turn of events in their lives, it is not out of place today to come across celebrities  who have become preachers of the Word.
From Eucheria  Anunobi to Zack Orji, Ndidi Obi, Pat Attah, Ernest Azuzu and many others, it has been a steady influx of fire-brand celebrity  Pastors into the Vineyard of God. But the question on the lips of everyone is whether these celebrities have found true happiness after all, and if they do, how much has the pulpit paid off, in place of dumping their flourishing careers in acting for the work of God. Like the Biblical saying, "When we come to the Word of God and we pray over His Word, when His Word shines on us, we are exposed and emptied of any other thing."

From Vanguard
Ex-President of the Actors Guild of Nigeria,AGN, Zack Orji can be described as "a gentleman without blemish."  This, no doubt informed his decision to become a worker in the Vineyard of God. Zack Orji ordained a full-time evangelist by Bishop Emma Isong of Christian Central Chapel International (CCCI).
He is said to have dedicated his time to preaching the gospel of good tidings across the nations of the world. The veteran actor has been spotted in such cities as Abuja, Nasarawa and Makurdi where he is engaged in various evangelical activities. But this, however, has not stopped him from storming the celebrity hangout, in Surulere to fraternize with his friends and colleagues in the movie industry.

Eucharia  Anunobi
In fact, Eucheria Anunobi's conversion was the most talked about conversion to Christ in recent times. The actress who ruled the screen in the early 90s with her role in the film "Glamour Girls" has been trailed with many controversies and scandals, most of which bothered on her relationships and crashed marriage. But after many years of being in the news for the wrong reasons, Eucheria shocked her fans when she announced she had given her life to Christ. Few months after the announcement, UK was ordained at the Fresh Oil Ministry, Egbeda, Lagos, as an evangelist.

Interestingly, with her ordination which was performed by Pastor Psalm Okpe, Eucharia willed the power to preach as a pastor and she's doing so, without looking back. Those in the know said, she already counsels youths in the church and travels at random to spread the gospel of salvation.
This, however, has not taken away some of the traits that made her fans term her "a bad girl" before her transformation. She is still flashy and daring. Just weeks after the ordination, Eucheria bought a brand new  BMW X5. Severally, she has refuted reports that she has abandoned her acting career for the work of God. Instead, she pointed out that she would be choosier in accepting roles in movies.

Pat Attah
Pat Attah? That play boy actor who broke the hearts of many 'Nollywood babes' during his time, and left as soon as the ovation was loud. The once-upon-a-dreadlock-turned clean cut actor, is currently based in Hamburg, Germany where he's winning souls for Christ. Those in the know said, he does not preach in churches, rather he is now very much a born-again.

Many knew him before he left the shores of the country  as one who was close to the ladies and in love with the bottle. Today, reading his posts online, one would acknowledge the fact that Pat is a new creature in Christ. He often uses social network sites including Facebook to deliver his sermon and messages to those who care to read them. But what we don't know is how he has been faring over there.

Liz Benson
Elizabeth Benson, popularly known as Liz Benson used to be the toast of many lovers of Nigerian films and TV series. Her journey into stardom began when she appeared on the set of the popular television soap opera, Fortunes, in 1993. Liz Benson played the part of Mrs. Agnes Johnson in the soap, which ran for about two years on the NTA. After that, she acted in various TV series and many movies.

In 1994, her role in Glamour Girls, a very successful home video that focused on prostitution, literally changed her fortunes. The movie shot her into prominence and soon, she became a subject of many scandals and controversies, forcing her to disappear from teh scene, in order to rebrand herself. But as luck would have it, she got married to her  Bishop Great Emeya husband in 2009, at the Rainbow Christian Assembly in Warri, Delta State. She has since been ordained an evangelist in the church. Presently, she runs the church with her husband.
Charles Okafor
Charles Okafor who staged a comeback to Nollywood recently in Uche Jombo's film, "Misplaced" after disappearing from the radar is also one of the actors that are winning souls for Christ. He used to act alongside Saint Obi, Zack Orji and Richard Mofe Damijo and has made a name for himself before  disappearing from the scene.
The UNIPORT trained actor  who starred in such films as  Forest of Promises, Ocean Deep, Across the River, Between Love, Boiling Point, and Executive Connection, worked briefly with the Security and Exchange Commission, before resigning to go into full time acting. Recently, he was spotted at a filling station around Isolo area of Lagos, and from the way, he looked, the handsome actor has surely given up the things of this world.
Okey Ogunjiofor

Okechukwu Ogunjiofor is known to be the founder of Nollywood. He produced the film,  Living in Bondage which gave birth to Nollywood.  With the explosion of this movie in 1992, Nollywood prides itself today as second to the largest movie industry in the world after 20 years of its existence. But this man who started this innovation engage himself more in other aspects of movie production. He hardly features in movies but appears on special arrangement. He has since reconciled himself with his maker. Today, he is not only  a preacher of teh Word, he is also House of God. He is also a motivational speaker and unknown to many, Paullo as he's fondly called by his fans is an author of many Christian literature

Asuu tackles VC over plans to recall student.

AAUA Asuu branch, has threatened a showdown with the management of the institution, should it make good its plans to recall students and lecturers to campus.

The union advised parents  to keep their children at home, warning that members were ready to resist the management's  plans to reopen the university despite the ongoing strike.

The Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Olufemi  Mimiko, had on Wednesday said he would reopen the institution if ASUU failed to call off its over two months strike as quickly as possible.

Mimiko had said  the  protracted  strike  had affected  the activities of  the  university,  which, he said, had enjoyed a stable academic  calendar  in  the last four years.

He said, "We have unbroken four-year academic calendar  before the strike started.  The strike has affected our  programmes.  It is not in the interest of  our students.  We hope ASUU will call off  the  strike soon,  if not, we are considering taking   a measure to bring our  students  back to the campus.

"Ours   is a  state university and  the  case is  different.  We don't have any subsisting  agreement with the ASUU.  It is the Federal Government that has issues with the ASUU."

But the Chairman of ASUU, AAUA, Dr. Busayo Mekusi, described the VC's plan as "an attempt to plunge the institution  into an unending crisis."

He told journalists in Akure on Thursday that the  strike  called by the national union would continue and AAUA  branch was committed to  what he called "the  revamping of public universities in the country."

He said, "We advise  parents to  restrain their wards from heeding the call as ASUU AAUA is still on strike, anybody trying to  break the ongoing strike meant to better the lots of  our students of tomorrow is an enemy of our future. All the members of the union should  disregard this."

He refuted the claims that the university had no subsisting agreement with the Federal Government, arguing that  the ongoing struggle  had given AAUA  access to N1.05bn so far from the Federal  Government allocation.

He said, "We are committed to the  strike called by the union to  push for the implementation of the 2009 agreement;  state universities were duly represented during the processes of negotiation that  culminated in the signing of the agreement  and this account for why AAUA has been benefitting from the proceeds of ASUU struggle as found in  the intervention of TETFUND.

"By this purported resumption of academic activities,  the  VC seems to be ready to plunge the institution into crisis as he wants to apply the University of Ilorin model, which promotes dehumanisation and slavery."

Meanwhile, ASUU has described the negotiations, the union had been having with the Federal Government as a "lip service negotiations."

The Ibadan acting zonal Coordinator of ASUU, Dr. Karo Ogbinaka, in a statement on Thursday said, "After the meeting of Tuesday, September 19 with the Vice-President Namadi Sambo, it is clear that the Federal Government is merely paying lip-service to education in Nigeria and deceiving the Nigerian public on their commitment to its transformation agenda. "

He warned students and parents not to be deceived with the agenda of the government, saying the strike was in the interest of Nigeria's educational system

B’Haram linked to group behind Kenya mall attack

A report by a committee of  the United States House of Representatives has linked the  fundamentalist Islamist sect, Boko Haram,  to al Shabaab, the terror group that carried out the September 21 Westgate Mall attack in Nairobi, Kenya.

Al-Shabaab is a Somali-based group whose members are said to be highly proficient in suicide bombing.

The  report dated September 13, 2013 and  entitled,  'Boko Haram: Growing Threat to the US Homeland', also acknowledged the growing relationship between the  Nigerian sect  and another terror group, the Al Qaeda in the land of the Islamic Maghreb.

The  39-page report noted that "while there is no evidence that al Qaeda's core in Afghanistan and Pakistan commands Boko Haram's operations, it is clear from the words of multiple US  officials and  media reports  that Boko Haram is supportive of, and supported by  Al Qaeda networks such as AQIM."

It noted that "it is the unity of ideology and mutual hatred for the West between the Al Qaeda networks that exposes the danger Boko Haram poses to the U.S Homeland."

The committee described Boko Haram as a "hardened and sophisticated terror network" that required  multiple simultenous local and international efforts to enhance the capacity and capability of the the Nigerian Police and the military to curtail its activities.

It said there was an urgent need by the US to designate the sect as a Foreign Terrorist Organisation because it has shown  no signs of ending its aggression  against the government of Nigeria and the Western world.

The commiteee wrote, "The world is coming to know more about Boko Haram; their intentions, what they're capable of, and who is supporting them.

"The US Intelligence Community is working to erase the gaps in our understanding of Boko Haram, but it is already evident they are a serious threat to US interests and potentially to the US Homeland.

''Acknowledging this threat publicly by designating Boko Haram an FTO will establish a legal mechanism for prosecuting any supporters within US jurisdictions.

"This is an increasingly important tool given their attempts to market themselves to a wider international audience.

"Boko Haram shows no signs of ending its campaign against the government of Nigeria and the Western world. Two years after their August 2011 bombing of a United Nations facility in Abuja, Nigeria, Boko Haram remains a threat to the international community, and continues to be a developing threat to the US  Homeland."

The report said that Boko Haram had "highly skilled bomb makers who might have received training  from experienced militants elsewhere, potentially indicating a stronger relationship between them and AQIM or Al Shabaab.

It said that besides building sophisticated weaponry, it was now possible that Boko Haram had acquired or will acquire SA-7  and SA-24  shoulder-fired surface-to-air missiles.

The SA-7  missile is effective up to 1,300 metres, while some newer models reach altitudes of almost four kilometres. Although most aircraft cruise around 9,140 metres,  the SA-7  could be used to target aircraft during  takeoff and landing.

In the report, the committee warned, "It does not take much imagination to picture the threat these weapons would pose to commercial aviation in Abuja if they fell into Boko Haram hands."

Out of the 20,000 such weapons in Libya, only 5,000 of them had been secured through a $40m US programme to buy up loose missiles during the fall of the Gadhafi regime. Most are believed to have found their way into  countries that share common boundaries with Nigeria.

The committee acknowledged that the  Goodluck Jonathan administration had taken some potentially promising steps in its effort to fight Boko Haram.

It said the appointment of Col. Sambo Dasuki (retd), a northern Nigerian Muslim, to the position of National Security Adviser on June 23, 2012, demonstrated Jonathan's willingness to give northerners and Muslims a visible role in Nigeria's struggle with Boko Haram.

"Dasuki has taken the lead in organising government's fight against Boko Haram, and his background as a Muslim from the North may give him obvious and potent symbolic significance," the committee said.

In spite of this, the committee observed that concerns regarding the capability of the Jonathan administration to effectively deal with Boko Haram remained prominent.

The committee said without foreign assistance from countries such as the US and the UK, the Nigerian government would  almost certainly face a prolonged battle in neutralising Boko Haram.

According to the committee, the State Department, which has also engaged Nigeria through its African Coastal and Border Security programme, has focused its assistance on peacekeeping support, training, border and maritime security, and increasing military professionalisation.

But it lamented that in spite of the training, the "JTF  continues to behave unprofessionally, and has been accused of human rights abuses by Human Rights Watch, among other  entities, including the State Department's most recent annual human rights report."

It also warned that greater pressure must be applied to the JTF to abandon counter-productive and brutal tactics alienating northerners.

The committee said  failure of the Secretary of State to designate the Boko Haram sect an FTO, was  the 'most obvious flaw in the US effort to combat it and prevent its expansion.'

It said, "If Boko Haram were to be designated an FTO, it would support US intelligence community efforts to curb the group's financing, stigmatise and isolate it internationally, heighten public awareness and knowledge, and signal to other governments the US takes the threat from Boko Haram seriously.

"If Boko Haram is not designated an FTO, its potential threat to the US and its capability to attack the homeland would likely increase. It is therefore an urgent next step to take in fighting this growing al Qaeda affiliate in Nigeria."

The committee further said as the number of attacks perpetrated by Boko Haram had increased in 2013, so had  the attention paid to the group by the US.

Hackers Steal Michelle Obama ID data

An investigation has revealed that hackers stole millions of social security numbers by cracking open the networks of large US data brokers.

The ID details of US First Lady Michelle Obama and many other famous people were exposed by the hack attack. Journalist Brian Krebs tracked the information back to hackers who ran an online market for confidential data.
He found they got their data by compromising computers sitting on the data brokers' corporate networks.
In March, Krebs, as well as the FBI and US Secret Service, started looking into how the exposed.su website was getting hold of social security numbers and other details of many famous Americans.

The mysterious website, which has now been closed down, published confidential information about Bill Gates, Beyonce Knowles, Jay-Z, Ashton Kutcher and many others.

Hi! Am a student [name withheld] of Olabisi Onabanjo University and I am confused on what to do ever since I discovered my hallmate and classmate Picture Above was sleeping with my husband....

I discovered through my husband's phone when I saw a text message sent by my hallmate, indicating her name and her account number, I was furious and I had to confront my husband to the extent of threatening him for a divorce.

After the threats and insult my husband finally confessed that he met her through facebook that he never knew she stays in my hall and the girl even asked her out on facebook, to the extent that my husband and this my shameless hallmate met like 5 times in a Cheap chalet hotel that cost for 1000 naira per hour, my husband had sex with her like 4 times and she even gave my husband a Mouth Gig to the extent that she asked my husband if she was good on bed.

I seriously don't know what to do cos this girl knows my husband very well to the extent I do give her things out of what My husband do bring for me in school, she has seen my husband countless time both on phone and in real life, although my husband does not recognise her.

After this incident I told some of my other hallmates about how the harlot has been sleeping with my husband to my own surprise one them told me that she has done it to her before, that she tried to snatch her boyfriend to the extent she caught her in a hotel room with her boyfriend, and I was told she has been doing such for a long time and she has done it to so many people, calling her a husband snatcher. They told me she once said she Was going To Deal with me one time me and her had a misunderstanding.

Ever since the incident the girl has refused to come back to the hall we live on campus, she's scared and ashamed.

I don't know what to do to this situation, my hallmates said we should beat her me while some advise me to embarrass and humiliate her in class because we are both in the same class in the same department of Mass communication, everybody knows her in our class, they call her Alhaja because she is a muslim and she is always covering hair and everybody in our class thinks she's a holy girl.

Drug-users Eaten Alive By Flesh-eating Illness Caused By Homemade Heroin

The first cases of a terrifying new drug called 'Krokodil' that eats flesh from the inside out, is flammable and leaves addicts with reptilian-like skin have been reported this week in Arizona and the state fears the beginning of an epidemic.
It was first encountered by Banner's Poison Control Centre when two drug addicts arrived in emergency rooms with their flesh hanging off their body, exposing bone or with skin resembling that of a crocodile, hence its name.

Krokodil (medical name desomorphine) is a homemade substance, created by mixing codeine with  gasoline, paint thinner, hydrochloric acid, iodine and red phosphorous and then injecting the rancid concoction into the users body.
Continual use of the drug causes blood vessels to burst, leaving skin green and scaly among addicts eventually causing gangrene and their flesh to begin to rot.

The drug is said to be three times cheaper than heroine but has same mental effect.

The drug is very popular in Russia and its usage is spreading like virus.

A must read:10 main reasons to have sex more often.

.
1. Sex promotes heart health.
A study in the American Journal of Cardiology suggests that men who made love twice a week have a lower risk of cardiovascular disease (CVD) than men who have less frequent sex.

Research found that a low frequency of sexual activity predicted new cardiovascular events. The psychical capacity to made love might be a marker for overall health, or the physical exercise from sex might directly protect against CVD. Or it might be that men who have regular sex enjoy improved health through stress reduction from a supportive relationship. Whatever the reason, it appears that sex is good for your ticker.

2. Doing it burns calories.
Due to its brevity, having an orgasm fries only two or three calories. But the prelude can burn quite a bit more, depending on your weight and the length and vigor of the lovemaking session. For example, a raucous romp uses about 5 METs (metabolic equivalents), a system for gauging the intensity of physical activity. (Sitting quietly, for comparison, is equal to 1 MET.) So, a 190-pound man would burn 413 calories in an hour of vigorous sexual activity. But since the average lovemaking session is about 20 minutes, you're talking about only around 150 calories. Still, that's more than double the caloric expenditure of sitting alone on the couch.
3. Sex is a natural sleeping pill.
As women know all too well, orgasm is a rather effective sleep aid for most men.

4. Sex stifles stress.
Sex, like exercise, releases anxiety, lowers stress hormones, and can help people cope with mental pressure for at least a week. In the study, 46 men and women were put in a stressful situation involving speaking and working math problems in front of a tough audience. Participants were also asked to keep a diary of their sexual activity for two weeks prior to the test. Those who had sex were the least stressed out, and their blood pressures returned to normal faster after the public speaking test. "People who had penile-honeypotl intercourse did twice as well as people who only m*st*u*r*b*a*ted or had no sex at all," says psychologist and lead researcher Stuart Brody.

5. A roll in the hay keeps the doctor away.
Research shows that people who made love once or twice weekly have stronger immune systems than people who made love less than once a week.
6. Good love is better than a bandage.
Researchers at Ohio State University Medical Center inflicted minor blister wounds on the arms of 45 married couples during 24-hour visits on two different occasions. On the first visit, the couples were prompted to engage in a positive, supportive discussion. Two months later they returned and new wounds were administered, the couples were prompted to argue. Results showed that wounds healed nearly two times faster after the positive interaction.

7. More sex may turn back the clock.
Can having sex keep wrinkles away? British neuropsychologist David Weeks, MD, of Royal Edinburgh Hospital believes so. In a 10-year-long study, he interviewed 3,500 adults in England and the United States, and found that people who reported having sex four times a week looked about 10 years younger than they actually were. Pleasure derived from having loving sex releases hormones, including human growth hormone, that are crucial in preserving youth, he says.

8. Frequent orgasms may protect against cancer.
Several studies have suggested that frequent *********** over many years may decrease risk of prostate cancer. In one US study, 29,000 men, ages 46 to 81, were asked their history of sexual intercourse and m*st*u*r*b*a*tion between the ages of 20 and 49. Researchers at the National Cancer Institute analyzed the data and determined that the group of men who reported 21 orgasms per month was much less likely to have prostate cancer than men who averaged seven or fewer ***********s per month. The researchers speculated that several protective factors may contribute: *********** may clear the prostate of carcinogenic secretions and the stress-reduction benefit from orgasm may limit potential harmful substances that could trigger cancer.

9. Love longer, live longer.
An Irish study published in the British Medical Journal in 1997 tracked the mortality of 1,000 middle-aged men over the course of a decade and concluded that sexual activity may have a protective effect on health. By comparing men according to age and health, researchers found that men who had the highest frequency of orgasms had a death rate 50-percent lower than men who did not ejaculate frequently.
10. Men who have more sex are—surprise—happier!
An Australian survey of 5,000 people showed that married men are 135 percent more likely to report happiness than single men, while only 52 percent of married women are happier than unmarried women. Could it have something to do with the fact that sex is easier for cohabiting couples? According to a national sex survey conducted by the University of Chicago, sexual activity is 25 percent to 300 percent greater for married couples compared to non-married people, depending on age

Advice To Facebook Ladies, Especially Those In Their Twenties [MUST READ]

Guys love to marry an Independent and Matured lady... So instead of sitting there and waiting to be bluffed by a guy, focus on getting a career that would take you out of the house wife category...

* Never let the sweet talks of ... guys deceive you, most times they just want to go between your legs and run off thereafter. *Remove the mentality from your mind that guys will keep springing up to approach you. The older you get by the day, the fewer toasters you will have.

*Playing 'too' hard to get is the worst thing you should ever start, remember, nothing lasts forever. If you still doubt, check out the number of matured single ladies looking up to GOD FOR A MIRACLE.

*Never extort things from a guy you don't love, guys always have ways of paying a girl back, either through their FRIENDS or total 'PAID' STRANGERS....BE CAREFUL.

*Never be deceived you can trap a guy through sex. A man will also return to his wife who sex starves him for years once he loves and trust her. You can never win a man over with your body.

*If all you take to the relationship is the mind set to EXTRACT MONEY from him, don't complain if all he ask from you is your body. He has seen you have nothing else to offer...

* Don't be fooled when Guys tell you they have never met a prettier girl, they will say that same thing to an 80year old woman they want to get intimate with.

*A guy always taking you to the SILVERBIRD, FAST FOOD, MALL AND EVENTS AT CONFERENCE CENTRE\NATIONAL THEATRE is no sign that he loves you, if he doesn't care to ask and PLAN YOUR FUTURE TOGETHER then you are just his 'SOCIAL MATE' and nothing else...

*If the only time he invites you over is when he needs to cook, clean the house and do his laundry, then just know you are his "executive house help".

*If he avoids meeting your family and close friends then it is an obvious sign he is just playing games with you.

*Don't always change the TV station from ETV to CRYSTAL TV, MTV and Fashion TV. Take time to find out what is bothering him and how you can help out.

*If the only places he doesn't frown when you enter are his bedroom and kitchen then know you aren't welcome (only being used). Have you noticed that most of the ladies that end up being emotionally abused are the ones at the receiving end...? Always with open arms, requesting for something and ready to receive... THE MORE YOU WIDEN YOUR ARMS, THE MORE HE WIDEN YOUR LEGS...
A grown up guy who gives the excuse about his parents being wild when he brings female visitors to the house is a sign that HE HAS A SERIOUS GIRL AND HAS INTRODUCED HER TO HIS PARENTS ALREADY... ADVISE YOURSELF...

FINALLY, I ALWAYS SAY THIS AND WILL SAY IT AGAIN... It's better to be sitting in a taxi smiling happily than to be in your husbands fresh air-conditioned BMW x6 with bruised eyes wearing a fresh Gucci shades alongside a Burberry scarf...

JUST REMEMBER THAT, DATING A RICH MAN DOESN'T GUARANTEE HAPINESS IN MARRIAGE... MONEY IS NOT EVERYTHING... MAKING RIGHT CHOICES IN LIFE IS WHAT MATTERS MOST.

Asuu Strike Update: Strike continues as FG withholds Lecturers’ August Salary

We are quite happy to cut it into many small useful pieces. Lecturers in the nation's public universities on. Monday vowed to continue with their indefinite strike, declaring that President Goodluck Jonathan's decision to withhold their salaries would not stop their resolve to ensure the university system is made better once and for all.

"Yes, the non-payment of our August salary is another attempt by the government to stampede us into breaking the strike, and as usual, it will not work. The economic war the government is employing has never, and will never yield any dividend. Our next line of action is:

"To continue with the strike. We had, on July 2, commenced a total, comprehensive and indefinite strike action, and as long as the government does not meet our demand of implementing the FGN/ASUU 2009 agreement, the strike will continue."The Chairman, Academic Staff Union of Universities, University of Abuja chapter, Dr. Clement Chup, stated this in a chat with Punch.

On comments by the leadership of NANS that the students were no longer supporting the strike, Chup said those making the call were "political and mercenary students."

"The NANS that say they do not support us are the mercenary students. They are the political, non-matriculated students. Our genuine students do understand the issues that warranted the strike, and are fully in our support."

He said government officials are only interested in awarding contracts in universities where they will benefit and not the quality of input and output in the higher institutions

Delta State Governor Sends 16 Journalists For N250M Training In London

Controversy has continued to trail Delta State Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan's alleged N250 million sponsorship of 16 private-sector journalists to London for a training on "Investigative Joirnalism" which has been described as a jamboree.

This comes as a crisis is currently brewing in the state chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), which could lead to the removal of its Chairman, Mr Norbert Chiazor, over the selection of the reporters for the London training.

Members of the NUJ in the state have condemned in strong terms the involvement of Mr. Chiazor, describing it as a sell-out, clandestine and compromise, stressing that the "corrupt" manner he led the selected private journalists to the jamboree said to be holding at the Thomson Reuters Foundation in London is an impeachable offence.

SaharaReporters investigations show that the state government in its bid to buy the media, hiding under its human capital development agenda, allegedly approved a whooping N250 million for the training of the 16 journalists in London for the second time.

Last year, the council chairman had risked impeachment following his involvement in controversial and corrupt circumstances with the state government to take 12 journalists in state for a similar jamboree at the Reuters/Thompson Foundation in London, United Kingdom.

Before now, the state chairman of the union has been accused by members of the NUJ in the state of corruption, flagrant disregard of the union's constitution, lack of transparency, respect for members, romance with government to the detriment of members, as well as intimidation and harassment of members.

It was reliably gathered that the embattled NUJ state chairman had reached an alleged deal with the state government to be sponsoring selected private sector journalists abroad for jamborees in the name of training so as to avoid any form of bad press throughout the reign of the administration.

According to a release from the office of the state Information Commissioner, Mr. Chike Ogeah, 16 journalists from the print and electronic media in the state have commenced a one-week training at the world renowned Thomson Reuters Institute in London under the sponsorship of the state government with the theme "Investigative Journalism" focusing on ethics and the principles of investigation in news writing.

Ogeah confirmed that the "Training is the second to be sponsored by the Delta State Government. Last year, 12 journalists were at the Thomson Reuters Institute for one-week training on News Writing."

He said Governor Uduaghan, who gave his approval for the training, is of the belief that it was in line with his administration's programme of human capital development.

It was revealed that apart from the 16 state-sponsored journalists, others including the General Manager of the state-owned Pointer Newspapers, Mr. Bioseh Iwobi, whose tenure has elapsed, the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Information, Mr. Austin Mowah due for retirement by 28th of this month, the special assistant and personal assistant to the commissioner led by Ogeah himself left the shores of the country on Sunday, September 22, 2013 for the jamboree in London which sources said would last for two weeks.

According to a Government House member of staff, "The governor is at good wasting public funds. Some of the persons on the list were the same persons who attended the first jamboree in London. Mowah, Ogeah, Chiazor, SA to the commissioner and few others currently in London were among the first set."

However, a group in the state chapel under the auspices of "Chapel Leaders Forum" were said to have started collating signatories towards the removal of the chairman. It was reliably gathered that the chapel leadership shall be meeting Wednesday to decide the fate of the embattled chairman.

According to the members, the chairman has been running the union like a private empire as well as his failure to hold monthly congresses which has breached Article F 6a of the union which states inter alia that "the state congress shall meet monthly."

Members of group are also not happy that Article 2 c has also been breached several times by the Norbert Chiazor-led executive as it has failed to "encourage the participation of members in decision making processes in the union."

The chapel's leadership and it's members were quick to mention the 2012 edition of the Press Week organized by the Council where the issue was not discussed at SEC or Congress before a committee was set up and inaugurated by the council.

"This led to a subtle boycott of the lecture aspect of the Week where Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan despite all efforts to flag-off the ceremony had to mandate his Deputy, Prof. Amos Utuama (SAN) to represent him due to the poor turnout of journalists for the event.  Lagos-based lawyer and gubernatorial aspirant in Delta State, Festus Keyamo who delivered the lecture spoke to a hall that had less than 10 per cent of practising journalists in attendance," a reporter who is in the know of what is going on in the union, but craved anonymity said.

Why This Man Has Nose On His Forehead (PHOTOS)

After his nose was damaged, then infected and deformed, this Chinese man has had a new one artificially grown on a rather unusual place.
The 22-year-old man, identified only as 'Xiaolian,' damaged his nose in a vehicle accident back in August 2012, but decided not to seek medical treatment. An infection then gradually corroded the cartilage, and, when Xiaolian finally went to see a doctor, it was too late: the surgeons were helpless.
There was no other choice left but to grow a new nose to transplant it, replacing the damaged one.
The surgeons placed a skin tissue expander onto Xiaolian's forehead, cutting in into the shape of a nose and supporting it by cartilage taken from his ribs.
The medical procedure was carried out at a hospital in Fuzhou, China's Fujian province. Surgeons say the nose is well-developed, and the replacement surgery will be carried out soon.

WOW: Ghanaian Lawyer Hangs Himself in His Office, Leaves Suicide Note

A 44-year-old lawyer and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Property Lane Limited, Kofi Yawson-Agyei, has committed suicide in Accra.

Yawson-Agyei, who was the Secretary of Ghana Institute of Surveyors, was found hanging with an electric cable in his CUA House office at Adabraka in Accra early yesterday morning.

Before his death, the deceased who was also a land surveyor, was said to have left a written note and signed a cheque for GH¢3000 directing it to be given to the wife, Felicia Yawson-Agyei. The body had since been deposited at the Police Hospital morgue awaiting autopsy.

Confirming the story to DAILY GUIDE, Chief Superintendent Frank Adufati, Accra Regional Crime Officer,
said KofI Yawson-Agyei was discovered dead in his office at Adabraka around 6:00am yesterday.

An on-the-spot enquiry revealed that at about 12 midnight that fateful day, the CEO of Property Lane Limited told the wife Felicia Agyei-Yawson that he was going for a stroll.

For a while, the deceased was not returning and so the wife informed friends and relatives about the development and a search was mounted for him.

At about 6:00am that same day, Mr Yawson-Agyei was found to have hanged himself in his office by the relatives.

A report was then lodged with the Accra Regional Police for investigations.

The deceased before his death left a suicide note and a signed Standard Bank cheque of GH¢3000, directing a lady by name Naa in his office to give it to his wife.

The note read, "Naa give the written Standard Cheque to my wife. Pick the cheque from Makola, pay in and use signed cheque for my wife. The balance in the Fidelity account is about GH¢3000 Plus about GH¢7000 from Makola. Mankoadze owes GH¢2000."

Police preliminary investigations suspected no foul play but investigations are on-going, according to the police Crime officer.

No marks of violence were found on the body at the scene,

Niger Delta’s Most Wanted Kidnap Kingpin Arrested In Port Harcourt

Kelvin Ibruvwe, the Niger Delta's most wanted kidnap kingpin and leader of the Liberation Movement for the Urhobo People (LIMUP), he has been arrested today in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State.

Mr. Ibruvwe's arrest came barely a week after he brashly gave the Federal and Delta State governments a 60-day ultimatum to develop the Urhobo area, particularly his community, Kokori in Ethiope East local government area, or risk heavy attacks on oil facilities.

Two security sources told SaharaReporters that the notorious kidnapper was arrested on Wednesday morning by a special squad of the State Security Services (SSS) deployed from the agency's headquarters in Abuja. "We were also assisted by some local security operatives based in Delta State to apprehended Henry at the early hours of today," one of the sources said.

Our correspondent was told that Kokori town had been taken over by men of the Joint Task Force (JTF) who mounted a coordinated attack to arrest other members of LIMUP as soon as the news of Ibruvwe's arrest filtered into the community.

A source in Kokori disclosed that the arrival of the JTF operatives sparked off an exchange of gun battle between members of LIMUP and the JTF. "The JTF people brutalized many people in our community. Some youths and men were arrested while some women were beaten for daring to prevent arrest of their husbands and children," the source said. The source added that many residents had fled the community for fear of further reprisals and possible mistreatment by the JTF.

Last week, Mr. Ibruvwe and other members of his gang staged a dramatic event where they brandished sophisticated weapons while issuing an ultimatum to the Goodluck Jonathan administration as well as the Delta State government. One police source told SaharaReporters that the group's high-profile event had embarrassed the state commissioner of police, Mr. Ikechukwu Aduba, and the commandant of the JTF, adding that the two law enforcement officials almost earned reprimands from their bosses in Abuja.

"Because of the embarrassment Henry caused, orders were issued to trail him and arrest him by all means," said the source.
