STRIKE LATEST: ASUU Undecided at NEC Meeting; to Meet President Jonathan Again
The leadership of the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, National Executive Council, weekend, met in Kano. The secret meeting,Vanguard gathered lasted from Friday night to Saturday morning.
However, at the end of the meeting, lecturers were not forthcoming with the outcome, which sources say was borne out of the promise made to President Goodluck Jonathan by the union to inform him of its decision before going public.
It was learnt that the NEC meeting which attracted 'fair representation' from over 50 universities was held at Mambayya House. Vanguard gathered lecturers were divided on the issue of suspension of the over 5months strike.
The Universities lecturers were conveyed to the venue of the secret meeting in two Coaster buses, secured by the union's Kano chapter, in order to avoid the attention of the press and public.
A competent source close to ASUU told Vanguard in Kano that "we still have 40 – 60 percent situations here after the meeting; the resolution from the north favours the call off while their peers from the South strongly support the continuation of the strike".
According to the source, "however , we were able to take a middle course that would be pleasant to Nigerians, but that will not be discussed now at the public domain until we meet Mr. President in line with our last discussion".
Effort to reach Dr Nasiru Fagge, the national President of ASUU was abortive as he failed to pick up calls.

Festus Iyayi Was Shot By Policemen In Kogi's Governor Convoy - SaharaReporters
An anonymous tipster has confided in SaharaReporters that Festus Iyayi, a former president of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), was actually shot by policemen in the convoy of the Kogi State Governor, Captain Idris Wada, prior to the road accident in which he supposedly died last week.
The source claimed that the injuries found on the late writer's chest were consistent with gunshot injuries and that a bullet did pierce his heart.
One Dr. Paul Amodu of the Specialist Hospital in Lokoja had revealed that Professor Iyayi died after "something" pierced his chest, but he didn't specify what it was.
SaharaReporters was first to reveal last week said the popular professor and writer died in a collision with a security vehicle in Governor Wada's convoy.
Sources at ASUU said they had dissuaded Iyayi's family from a "rushed" burial, as they suspected foul play. One of the sources recalled that another former president of ASUU, Dr. Mahmood Tukur, also died in suspicious circumstances on the Kaduna-Zaria highway, with the police claiming he died of an asthma attack because he ate pepper which, they claimed, triggered it.
SaharaReporters spoke with Prof. Iyayi's son, Omole, regarding the latest information, but he said the family was unaware, and that they do not even have the autopsy performed yet.
A press statement issued by the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA)signed by its President Osahom Enabulele has previously called for a special inquiry into Professor Iyayi's death but the statement didn't say if the doctors found that Iyayi may been shot as alleged by the anonymous source.

OXFORD STUDY : Women With Big Butts Are Smarter
The study also said big butts are connected to lower risks for heart problems and diabetes.
Dr. Hal Brodsky of Gainesville Family Physicians said he is unfamiliar with the study, but there has been evidence for a decade in the field of diabetes research that fat in the butt and thighs isn't necessarily unhealthy.
According to him, fat in the butt and thighs generates healthy cholesterol. He also notes that people, who have small waists and larger butts and thighs, can still be healthy even if their body mass index is higher than average.
Still, "I don't think Kim Kardashian is getting any smarter with time," he said.

Amuneke Slaps, Manhandles American Football Agent Over Iheanacho’s Transfer
According to PremiumTimes, the assault, which happened at about 6:00 p.m. happened because Golden Eaglets star, Kelechi Iheanacho, chose Galliano as his agent ahead of one recommended by Amuneke.
Galliano and his Nigerian partner, Solomon Oluwaseun, both said Amuneke invited them for a meeting before he got angry, saying that his (Amuneke's chosen) agent must be the one to handle Iheanacho's transfer.
Then when the agent, Galliano, tried to talk back, the coach slapped him and beat him up in the presence of over 25 people.
According to Galliano:
"I came to Nigeria to take Kelechi to his club. FC Porto and Manchester City are interested in him but Manchester City has a better package.
Amuneke called me names, beat me up and embarrassed me, he said it's impossible to just take his players," Galliano said while accusing Amuneke of racial statements.
Galliano, an American, said Amuneke ordered Iheanacho to follow him to Abuja and also threatened him; which made the boy to burst into tears and went away.
"Kelechi is nowhere to be found, he started crying after the threat was made against him, the small boy is afraid and I hope he will not lose hope. Amuneke said he will delay his ITC and deal with him, he called vulgar words, cursing the boys and the players," he said.
PREMIUM TIMES tried to speak to Iheanacho, but his phone was switched off.
His father, when contacted, declined comment.
Amuneke, when contacted on phone, an angry Amuneke confirmed that he slapped Galliano and even threatened to beat him up again whenever he sees him.
He, however, denied being involved in the player's possible transfer.
"Yes, of course I slapped him very well and I will do it again whenever I see him," Amuneke said.
"He is an idiot, useless white man, he wants to come and reap where he didn't sow. Kelechi is a nobody; yes, I said we helped him into the team, made him, moulded him into what he is today, he shouldn't allow anybody to fool him," the former winger said.
When asked the reason for his action and his rumoured roles in Kelechi and other players transfer business, Amuneke said,
"I care so much for my players, I am a coach. I'm not an agent but I just look out for the boys. He wants to come and sign a player just like that, he's an idiot, I will not allow him.
Because the boy's parents are poor and illiterate, he wants to use them. We are Nigerians and we're not foolish," he added.
Despite Amuneke's denial, the shady involvement of Nigerian coaches and football officials in the transfer of players to foreign clubs is something muted and known by close observers of Nigerian football.
A football website, Goal.com, recently revealed that Super Eagles midfielder, Sunday Mba's move to a French club, was scuttled because of the financial demands and involvement of Eagles coach, Stephen Keshi, and some officials of the NFF.
Mba had been unveiled by the French club, Bastia, before he was forced to return to Nigeria.
PREMIUM TIMES learnt that Iheanacho has signed an agent deal officially with Galliano with a copy of the agreement sent to the secretariat of the Nigeria Football Federation, NFF.

I Cooked & Smuggled Ammunition For Boko Haram – Female Victim Reveals [MUGSHOT]
One of such women is 19-year-old Hajja who was asked to choose between converting to Islam and becoming such a wife or dying a cruel death.
Hajja was abducted from her village in the heart of Boko Haram territory in July and was forced to live through the torture of imprisonment. She watched men die and was sometimes the cause of their death.
Reuters reports:
In a new development, Boko Haram is abducting Christian women whom it converts to Islam on pain of death and then forces into "marriage" with fighters – a tactic that recalls Joseph Kony's Lord's Resistance Army in the jungles of Uganda.
The three months Hajja spent as the slave of a 14-strong guerrilla unit, cooking and cleaning for them before she escaped, give a rare glimpse into how the Islamists have changed tack in the face of Nigerian military pressure.
"I can't sleep when I think of being there," the 19-year-old told Reuters, recounting forced mountain marches, rebel intelligence gathering – and watching her captors slit the throats of prisoners Hajja had helped lure into a trap.
Nigerian security officials say the Islamists have pulled back after army assaults since May on their bases on the semi-desert plain and are now sheltering in the Mandara mountains, along the Cameroon border around the city of Gwoza. From the hills they have been launching increasingly deadly attacks.
The rugged mountain terrain – as fellow al Qaeda allies found in Afghanistan – has proven an advantageous base for a movement that once styled itself the "Nigerian Taliban" and sees all non-Muslims as infidels who must convert or be killed.
The United States designated Boko Haram a terrorist group on Wednesday. Western governments are increasingly concerned about the wider threat posed by the group, which wants to create an Islamic state in a religiously mixed country of 170 million and which has ties with al Qaeda's north African wing.
Hajja's account of how Boko Haram has adapted and survived in recent months underlines the difficulties governments in the region face. The spread of the threat was underscored by the kidnap on Thursday of a French priest in Cameroon, an attack France believes may have involved Boko Haram.
The following day, Nigerian troops raided a base for the group in the Gwoza hills. The army said it killed 29 Boko Haram fighters and was "closing in" on the rebels.
The group, whose name broadly translates as "Western education is sinful", has killed thousands during a four-year insurgency against the Nigerian state, targeting the police and armed forces as well as politicians and then turning on Christians in the predominantly Muslim north of the country.
The military offensive launched in mid-May, and the fact that large numbers of civilian vigilantes have supported it, has triggered a fierce backlash against local people by Boko Haram. The militants have killed hundreds in the past few weeks, including in massacres of school children.
The Islamists dragged Hajja along rocky mountain paths and slept in caves in the hills, a landscape unfamiliar to most Nigerian soldiers, recruited from the plains.
She ceremonially converted to Islam, cooked for the men, carried ammunition during an attack on a police outpost and was about to be married to one of the insurgents before she managed to engineer a dramatic escape. She says she was not molested.
"If I cried, they beat me. If I spoke, they beat me. They told me I must become a Muslim but I refused again and again," Hajja told Reuters in an interview. Her family name is withheld to protect relatives still living in the Gwoza area.
"They were about to slaughter me and one of them begged me not to resist and just before I had my throat slit I relented. They put a veil on me and made me read from the Koran," she said in the Nigerian capital, Abuja, where she is now living.
At least a dozen teenagers like her remain in captivity, Michael Yohanna, a councilor in Gwoza's local government told Reuters. Some have married commanders, recalling Kony's LRA, which abducted thousands of "wives" in a 20-year war in Uganda before a truce in 1986. Kony remains a fugitive.
A man called Ibrahim Tada Nglayike led the group Hajja was with. On one mission, Hajja was sent to stand in a field near a village to attract the attention of civilians working with the army. When five men approached her, they were ambushed.
"They took them back to a cave and tied them up. They cut their throats, one at a time," Hajja said. "I thought my heart would burst out of my chest, because I was the bait."
Among those who did the killing was the Muslim wife of the leader Nglayike, the only other woman in the band of fighters.
Reuters verified Hajja's account of having been abducted with independent figures in the region. Boko Haram shuns the media and none of its members could be contacted for comment.
Hajja says the long-bearded insurgents lived a basic lifestyle, eating corn, millet and occasionally meat from animals they stole and which she slaughtered.
The group, armed with AK-47 rifles and pistols stolen from police they killed, moved every day around the hills to avoid being tracked by the army and slept in the caves to shelter from the cold and for protection against air assaults.
"They didn't use phones but they had a radio," Hajja said.
"They would listen to BBC Hausa or Voice of America and jump and shout if they heard about Boko Haram attacks

Sources within the unit told Saharareporters that Mr. Ibrahim was picked up today and is currently under detention at the offices of the agency.
According to one source, "We are investigating a case where Chief Ibrahim, defrauded the federal government to the tune of N6.8 billion.
He is in our custody, we take intend to take a statement from the suspect under caution", he added.
One of our sources said Mr. Mr. Ibrahim have been evading agents of the unit for some time but disclosed that the eventually caught up with him in his hotel room in NICON Luxury Hotel where he was arrested this afternoon in Abuja.
Mr. Ibrahim emerged into national prominence under former President Olusegun Obasanjo, where he was frequently described as an insurance magnate after a questionable sale of the state owned NICON insurance company to Mr. Ibrahim.

ASUU Strike Update: NSCDC Begins 7-Day Fasting, Prayers!
This is contained in a statement issued in Abuja and signed by the Public Relations Officer of the corps, Mr Emmanuel Okeh.
The statement said that Dr Ade Abolurin, the Commandant General of the corps, directed the officers and personnel of the corps nationwide, to embark on the exercise.
It said the corps embarked on the exercise to seek God's intervention following the deadlock in the talks between the Federal Government and the striking university teachers aimed at resolving the issue.
"Worried by the ongoing strike embarked upon by the ASUU, which has resulted in the shutdown of universities since July this year, NSCDC Commandant General has organised a special prayer for the nation.
" The CG has declared seven days fasting and prayers nationwide to seek an ultimate solution to the problem,'' it said.
The statement said the move was borne out of the desire by Nigerians to see an end to the strike.
It quoted Abolurin, as noting that the inability of stakeholders to come to an agreement in resolving the four months old strike was an indication that divine intervention was the only solution to the problem.
"While lauding the effort of the government and its unwavering commitment to end the impasse, Abolurin said the nation should not underestimate the power of prayers at critical moments.
"We should not be ignorant of the devices of the devil whose mission is to steal, kill and destroy; but through prayer and fasting, the glory of this nation shall be sustained and the much needed success achieved,'' the statement said.
It said that stakeholders, including parents, guardians, government officials, the striking teachers, students, religious leaders and opinion leaders should pray for an end to the problem.
The statement said that the continuous stay of students at home had made them vulnerable to negative vices which "portend danger to the future leaders''.
It also appealed to the National Union of Teacher (NUT) to rescind its decision to embark on a sympathy strike, saying that this would further plunge the education sector into an unnecessary and avoidable catastrophe. (NAN)

HOT CAKE! Sony Playstation 4 Sold Over 1 Million Copies Just Within 24 Hours
Shuhei Yoshida, president of Worldwide studios for Sony Computer Entertainment, posted the news on Twitter Sunday.
PS4 has sold through over 1 million units within 24 hours of the launch in North America!!!
— Shuhei Yoshida (@yosp) November 17, 2013
As often happens when a mass release of a high-tech product occurs, a few consumers get a lemon. Some PS4 owners reported that their new console would not output video and had a flashing light, entertainment news site IGN.com reported.
"A handful of people have reported issues with their PlayStation 4 systems," Sony said in a statement to IGN. "This is within our expectations for a new product introduction, and the vast majority of PS4 feedback has been overwhelmingly positive. We are closely monitoring for additional reports, but we think these are isolated incidents and are on track for a great launch."
And the highly publicized release of PS4 attracted the attention of some thieves. Two men were arrested in Bakersfield, Calif., after robbing a customer of a PS4 outside a store, Yahoo News reported. And in Hutchinson, Kan., thieves broke into a home and took a PS4 in the early morning hours Saturday.
Sony will release the PlayStation 4 in Europe and Latin America on Nov. 29 and in Japan on Feb. 22, 2014. For more information, see Sony's PlayStation 4 Ultimate FAQ.

Beautiful Nubia tasks Hip Hop artistes on good lyrics
Akinlolu in Lagos said that there was nothing wrong in youths playing the Hip Hop, but they should use good lyrics to send their messages.
"We should not lay blames on youths, but the media that are pushing out the music to the people. So if what the media is pushing out is bad, it takes hold of the public mind.
"If we want honest music, we play one, not pretend to be owanbe or American if we want to be truthful to our selves.
"When we were growing up we listened to Cool and the Gang musical group, but we grew out of it.
"There is a natural process of maturity where people think deep and listen to more reflective music.
"There should always be good message in songs we do for positive changes. I am very particular about that.
"If the Hip Hop is not addressing that, then there is a problem about the songs," he said.
Akinlolu, however, said that there would be problem when youths grew older and were still doing the Hip Hop.
He said that Nigerian would grow out of the Hip Hop and prefer Nigerian music.
"They are trying already to do some collaboration or sing some of the 90s music.
"In the 90s it was reggae, in the70s it was pop. There is no need to push it; we should let them to bring it down to the Nigerian level," he said.
Akinlolu said that he was playing the traditional music which reflected what we were.
"It is a traditional music brought in different contemporary ways.
"I use Nigeria setting to sing the music and tell what is wrong in the society.
"It reflects the problems, the challenges we face every day; it reflects how we grew up, what we face every day in our society.
"We try to teach through the music the need for the people to be honest, hard working, good neighbourliness, sincerity consciousness, love and protecting one another.
"That is what we are telling the society, we are singing it for the society to change.
"It is the ancient wisdom and philosophy of our people and how they live a clean life.
"It is about the wisdom of all Africans that I put into poetry and prose, put it into songs and let people hear what we have to preach. I try reflecting on life experiences," he said.
Akinlolu has recorded eight albums including, "Seven lives", "Voice from heaven" and "Fire on the Roof". (NAN)

Gunmen Storm Ekiti Hospital At Mid-Night, Demand New Born
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the gunmen who were said to be numbering about five, arrived at the hospital at about 1:00 a.m. demanding for a day old babies, and beating up staff who could not give satisfactory answer.
A senior health officer, who pleaded anonymity, said that the armed men invaded the hospital located along Irona area at about 1:00 a.m. and suddenly began molesting medical officials on night duty.
According to the officer, the invaders, who were fully armed, are rhetorically demanding for the whereabouts of a particular baby, said to have been delivered earlier in the day.
"They got more annoyed when they were told that no baby was available in the hospital as at the time they came, it angered then the more and they went berserk,'' the officer said.
This development, NAN learnt angered the men who beat up the hospital staff and injured some of them.
"As a senior person on duty, I tried to convince them that all new born babies have been discharged from the centre in the last couple of days, but they refused to be convinced.
"This angered them the more and they descended on the staff beating us, some of them were busy ransacking the place in search of babies,'' the source said.
When contacted, the Chairman of Ado Local Government, Mr Tope Olanipekun confirmed the incident, saying "this is a new twist to crime in the area''.
Olanipekun, who claimed to have visited the hospital to see things for himself, described the incident as "highest point of callousness on the part of the perpetrators.''
"As I speak, the incident actually happened and I want to assure you that we are taking step to forestall a recurrence.''
The chairman said that he had already ordered that night duty be suspended in all the hospitals in the council, pending when tight security measures, which would include fencing of all health centres be taken.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Victor Babayemi, ASP, who was surprised at the development, however said the incident was yet to be reported to the police command. (NAN)

Wizkid and Akon Reject Dark-Skinned Models For Video Shoot
Ahead of the upcoming concert that will see the likes of Akon, WizKid, Sarkodie and more in Ghana, controversy sparks! In a recent video shoot for an up and coming Akon and WizKid video, some Ghanaian models and girl were called upon to participate by the directors a few days ahead of the shoot. Presumably prior to Akon and WizKid's arrival in Ghana.
A model reported on the day of the shoot some girls were turned away as the agent (or the man responsible for calling them) informed them that "they now want half cast girls". A term used to describe girls with mixed heritage, usually ones with white blood in them.
"THEY", most likely referring to WizKid, Akon and/or his music video producer, turning away a fleet of arrivals originally requested to attend by the model scout. In fact, the agent requested if the girls could help him seek light skinned girls because 'THEY' were so adamant on this request even on late notice.
Nigeria, where WizKid is from, and Senegal where Akon is from, are countries both flooded with girls bleaching their skin simply because of such discrimination and being made to feel ugly if dark. Not just in media and modelling, but general favours in life. Whilst there are good people in both countries trying to reverse the self esteem damage of such activities such as Adama Paris who banned skinned bleach models from the Senegalese national fashion week, Akon and Wiz Kid's team are trying to further such acts internationally.

1. Apples
Apples are high in acid, are surprisingly hard on your enamel. While a daily apple may keep the doctor away, the acid might keep your dentist on speed dial. Eating apples is fine, just be sure to rinse your mouth with water or mouthwash shortly after.
2. Hard candies
Though you probably know the sugar in candy is a problem, hard candies are especially harmful because we tend to hold them in our mouths longer. Also be aware that cough drops are often made with sugar, so opt for the sugar-free brand if available.
3. Pickled vegetables
Pickles are made with vinegar, which is acidic, and often sugar as well. While the vegetables are healthy, the brine is can damage your teeth. Drinking water with your meal helps wash away acids and sugar, but remember to brush an hour later.
4. Bread
Many breads contain sugar—especially processed white breads. It's best to check the labels for any added sweeteners that will breed mouth bacteria. Bread is also sticky and gets between and behind your teeth.
5. Popcorn
Popcorn is notorious for getting stuck in your teeth, and the areas between your teeth will cultivate more bacteria for that reason. It's okay to treat yourself to a bag of popcorn as long as you rinse with water and remember to floss and brush after.
6. Peanut butter
Sticky and often made with sugar, peanut butter not only feeds bacteria but makes it easier for them to adhere to teeth. Look for natural peanut butters with no added sugars to lessen the problem.
7. Jelly
Along with peanut butter, jelly or jam is loaded with sugar and quite sticky. Even the all-fruit brands contain natural sugars and encourage plaque and bacteria if not washed away soon.
8. Meat
Meat tends to get stuck between your teeth, and some meat products contain sugar as a preservative. While the amount may not be very high, any food that sits between your teeth can promote tooth decay. Try chewing sugar-less gum after eating if you can't brush right away.
9. Diet soda
Just because it doesn't have sugar doesn't mean your teeth are safe. The acidity of diet sodas is still extremely high, making it one of the worst products for your teeth.
10. Salad dressing
More of a condiment than a food, salad dressings use vinegar and sugar for flavor. Salads should be a staple in anyone's diet, but be careful of the dressings that can harm your smile.

5 Good Reasons To Get Married While You Are Young
Below are five reasons to get married in your 20s.
1. It could make you happier. The highest percentage of people ages 20 to 28 who consider themselves "highly satisfied" with their lives are married, as opposed to single or cohabiting. What's more, the largest number of women who described their marriage as "very happy" tied the knot when they were 24 to 26. A 2010 study found that "the greatest indicated likelihood of being in an intact marriage of the highest quality is among those who married at ages 22–25..". 2. You'll make more money (at least if you're a man). An analysis revealed that among men in their mid-30s, those who married in their 20s had the highest levels of personal income. Economists have found, in general, that married men earn more than single men -- even when you control for other factors like age and education.
3. You'll have more sex. Couples who marry in their 20s tend to have more frequent sex than those who marry later. Researchers say that "a four year increase in age at marriage is associated with a couple having sex about one time less per month." What's more, married people as a whole have more sex than their single counterparts.
4. You'll drink less alcohol. A 2012 study published in the Journal of Health and Social Behavior found that married and engaged young adults reported lower frequency of drunkenness than those who are not in a serious romantic relationship. Laying off alcohol has many health benefits, including weight loss, better sleep, better skin and a reduced risk of some cancers.
5. There's nothing to be gained from waiting -- if you think you're ready. We certainly aren't advocating a rush to the altar, but if you feel like you're prepared for that next step, go for it. Research says there's no advantage to delaying marriage just for the sake of delaying it. A 25-year-old person who meets an excellent marriage prospect would be ill-advised to pass up that opportunity only because he/she feels not yet at the ideal age for marriage. Furthermore, delaying marriage beyond the mid-twenties will lead to the loss during a portion of young adulthood of any emotional and health benefits that a good marriage would bring.

China shuts down Nigeria Visa centre in Beijing
But the host country said Nigeria did not follow due process in setting up the agency, thus making its activities illegal.
A source confirmed the development to our correspondent on Saturday.
He said, "The information is correct. But it is not the Nigerian consular office that was asked to close down, it was the 'illegal' visa application centre. The Nigerian authorities did not inform China of its intention to open a visa application centre through a private company before it started operation.
"There is a procedure which must be followed. It is good to avoid a diplomatic row and to continue with the good relationship between the two countries on one hand and the citizens on the other hand", he added.
In the note verbale written to the Nigerian embassy, China requested Nigeria to follow due process in setting up the private company as an agency for visa processing.
Note verbale is a diplomatic language, memorandum or note not signed, sent when an affair has continued a long time without any reply, in order to avoid the appearance of an urgency, which, perhaps, the affair does not require; and, on the other hand, not to afford any ground for supposing that it is forgotten, or that there is no intention of not prosecuting it any further.
Another source in China said, "It is true that the Chinese authorities asked Nigerian authorities to follow due process. The host country in situation like this will not take laws into its hands by shutting down the centre itself. It will only request the concerned country to do the right thing by closing down the place until the right things are done."
When contacted last night, the spokesperson of the Nigerian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ogbole Ode, said he was not aware of the development.
"I am not aware. It is already midnight in China so there is no way to confirm now", Ode said.
But the spokesperson of the Chinese Embassy, Mr. Ding Awhua, neither confirmed nor denied the report.
He said, as far as I know, the Nigerian Embassy or the cousular office in Beijing is open to business as usual. China and Nigeria enjoy cordial diplomatic relations, even if there is any issue between the two countries, there is a diplomatic channel of communication. Both China and Nigeria are law abiding countries and will not do anything contrary to the law."

STRIKE UPDATE: No Matter The Outcome of NEC Meeting Today, ASUU Can’t Suspend The Strike – Hon. Olasunkanmi Ahmed
How come they are still 120 that voted yes? I think we need to get proper information to disseminate to avoid giving some people unnecessary hypertension. No matter the outcome of NEC meeting, ASUU can't suspend the strike until the government sign the new agreement in line with condition put forward by them(except if all will be done this weekend, which is not possible), which state that NASS, minister of finance, CBN governor, NLC, Labour minister and some others must be a signatory to the agreement to avoid David Mark and others question on the intelligent of those who signed 2009 Agreement.
And ASUU had said this over and over before. Never will ASUU or even any reasonable person do an act which involve another party without the other party concurring to such action formally. ASUU has a procedure in embarking and suspending of a strike and until we understand this, many will continue to be victims of fake news, propaganda or na-me-post-am-first syndrome affecting many people on facebook.
The NEC meeting is to look at the report of each chapters and condition attached to those that said Yes and likewise look into the chapters that said No, then resolved the issue and come out with a final decision( which is likely to favour suspension) then inform the government and wait for those signatories to sign, then announcement of suspension will be done by ASUU.
Hopefully, this strike will come to an end this month as reality totally kill any hope of this weekend.

PHOTOS: Check-Out World's Most Expensive Painting For N23 Billion!!
A work by the late British painter Francis Bacon set a new world record for the most expensive painting ever auctioned off after being sold for almost £90million(N23b)
His iconic 1969 triptych "Three Studies of Lucian Freud" led to a frenzy of telephone bids after the piece went on sale at Christie's in New York.
The late 20th Century artist's sale shattered the old record of £74.8million, which was set by Edvard Munch's "The Scream," sold at Sotheby's in May 2012.
The auction house have refused to confirm who bought the painting after their bid $142million - £89.2million - was successful.
However according to reports in the U.S. William Acquavella, a New York dealer, is said to have acted for an unidentified client, from one of Christie's skyboxes overlooking the auction.
The price for the painting, which depicts Freud, Bacon's friend and rival, perched on a wooden chair, was more than the £53million Christie's had estimated.
When the bidding finally stopped, after more than 10 minutes, the crowd in the salesroom burst into applause.
Two disappointed bidders could be seen leaving the room.
"I went to $101 million (£64million) but it hardly mattered," said Larry Gagosian, the Manhattan super-dealer who was trying to buy the painting on behalf of a client.
Another contender was Hong Gyu Shin, the director of New York's Shin Gallery, who said he was bidding for himself.
"I was expecting it to go for around $87 million (£55million)," Mr. Shin said.
The sale broke the previous record price for the work of a British artist, which was set by the sale of Bacon's own 1976 Triptych for £54 million in 2008 to Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich.
Francis Outred, the head of post-war and contemporary art for Christie's Europe, had described the piece as a "true masterpiece that marks Bacon and Freud's relationship".
The pair had been friends and rivals since the mid-1940s. Irish-born Bacon died at 82 in 1992, while Freud died last year aged 88.
"The juxtaposition of radiant sunshine yellow contrasting with the brutal physicality and immediacy of the brushstrokes in this celebrated life-size triptych is what makes Bacon's art so remarkable," said Mr Outred.
The oil painting shows Freud sitting on a cane-bottomed wooden chair within a cage, on a curved mottled-brown surface with a solid orange background. Behind each figure is a headboard of a bed, originating in a set of photographs of Freud by John Deakin which Bacon used as a reference.
The painting was part of a record-breaking auction that grossed £434,438,721, the highest total for an auction sale in art market history, according to Christie's.
The sale of Post-War and Contemporary Art broke 10 auction records with three pieces sold for more than £31 million, 11 for over £12.5 million and 16 for over £6.2 million.
"Those dreadful pictures" - a profile of Francis Bacon
Former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher once described Francis Bacon as "that man who paints those dreadful pictures".
However, despite being reviled by many his work was equally acclaimed for his bold, graphic and emotional paintings.
Bacon was born in Dublin in 1909 to parents of English heritage.
Despite his family's wealth, throughout his teenage years he drifted through life often turning to petty crime to make ends meet.
He began painting in his early 20s although his success was not immediate as he struggled to find a style that suited him.
However, in 1944, after being declared unfit for military service, he gained a reputation for being an observer of the darker aspects of humanity with his seminal piece Three Studies for Figures at the Base of a Crucifixion.
A year later he met Lucian Freud who, despite being 13 years younger, formed a friendship with Bacon.
Despite their closeness the pair were also bitter rivals famed for their post-war paintings.
On April 18, 1992, Bacon, who was openly gay, died of cardiac arrest that was a complication of his asthma.
His entire estate worth £11million was left to his close friend John Edwards, an illiterate former barman from the East End of London.
What do you think about the winning bid?

ASUU STRIKE UPDATE: Schools May Resume On Monday After Emergency NEC Meeting This Weekend
A source who pleaded anonymity, told newsmen that the NEC meeting, which was suspended indefinitely because of the death of Late Professor Festus Iyayi, a former president of the Union, maybe be reconvened on Saturday.
He said that Iyayi's death brought shock to the Union, especially as he was on his way to official assignment and the ASUU had to put the meeting on hold to honour him.
"There is strong indication that the NEC meeting will be reconvened on Saturday," he said.
When asked if the strike will actually be suspended, he said: "I think so, judging by reports from the Monday congresses we held simultaneously, the union may suspend the strike on Saturday or Sunday."

"Let Me Stroke The Giant In Your Pants" - A Female Fan To Alex Ekubo
When asked;
Being a fashionable person, you would get hit-on a lot by women. What are some hilarious pick-up lines you have heard from a lady? Continue to see his reply....
A lady once called me and said, 'hey you're doing really well in your career as an actor, you are making giant strides, why don't you come over to my house let me stroke the giant in your pants.' I think that was hilarious and cute, but I give her a hundred per cent for originality. Some ladies have gone as far as writing my mum on social media, telling her how great a daughter in-law they would be, listing their qualities begging my mum to convince me to give them a chance. A lot of them send me indecent photos and proposals, telling me of things they want to do to my body.

'I Never Insured My "oranges"! Bloggers Cooked Up That Story' - Cossy Orjiakor
We learnt that you have insured your "oranges" for N256 million. Is it true?
It's not true. Sometimes, some of these bloggers just cook up stuffs that are not true. But it sounds so interesting, that's why I didn't want to confirm whether it's true or not. Let the story just be.
Why don't you want to talk about it?
It's because the story is a fiction. Somebody just cooked it up. I don't know anything about it. I didn't tell anybody I'm insuring my "oranges". It's something that somebody just cooked up somewhere. The story didn't generate from me neither did it generate from my Twitter handle or Instagram.
But do you have the intention to insure your "oranges" ?
I might do it, or not. But I don't want to talk about my "oranges" here.

You Won't Believe This!! The 19-Year Old Girl Who Has No Va-g*na Or Womb!!
Jacqui Beck, 19, has MRKH, an rare syndrome which affects the reproductive system - meaning she has no womb, cervix or vaginal opening.
She was only diagnosed after she went to her GP about back pain - and mentioned in passing that she hadn't started her periods.
Tests revealed her condition and that where her vagina should be, there is simply an ident, or 'dimple' - meaning she is unable to have sex or carry her own child.
Women with the condition appear completely normal externally - which means it is usually not discovered until a woman tries to have sex, or has not had her first period.
Miss Beck, from the Isle of Wight, admits when she was first diagnosed, she felt 'like a freak'.
'I'd never considered myself different from other women and the news was so shocking, I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
'I was sure the doctor had got it wrong, but when she explained that was why I wasn't having periods, it all started to make sense.
'She then explained that I would never be able to carry a child and might have to have surgery before I could have sex.
'I left the doctors in tears - I would never know what it was like to give birth, be pregnant, have a period. All the things I had imagined doing suddenly got erased from my future.
'I was really angry and felt like I wasn't a real woman any more.'
Because she had never attempted to have a physical relationship, Miss Beck had never noticed the problem herself. Had she tried, she would have discovered it was impossible for her to have sex.
WHAT IS MRKH SYNDROME?
MRKH (Mayer Rokitansky Küster Hauser) is a congenital abnormality which affects one in 5,000 women in the UK.
It is characterised by the absence of the vagina, womb and cervix.
Women suffering from the condition will have normally functioning ovaries and so will experience the normal signs of puberty but will not have periods or be able to conceive.
The external genatalia are completely normal which is why MRKH isn't usually discovered until women are in their teenage years.
It's usually discovered when the woman tries to has sex or fails to get her period.
Many women are able to create a vaginal canal using dilation treatment, which uses cylinder shaped dilators of different sizes to stretch the muscles.
However, if this is unsuccessful then surgery will be used to stretch the vaginal canal.
Following treatment women are able to have intercourse and can have their eggs removed and fertilised to be used in surrogacy.
She said: 'It wasn't really a conscious decision not to have a boyfriend, I just didn't really fancy any of the boys in my area, which is lucky, considering what I know now'.
MRKH affects one in 5,000 women in the UK. Most discover they have the condition because they haven't started their periods, but some find out when they struggle to have intercourse.
Miss Beck explained she has a 'dimple' where her vagina should be so from the outside it looks normal - which explains why the condition wasn't detected earlier.
Despite the shocking news, she is trying to see her condition in a positive light - and even as a way of making sure she meets the right man.
She said: 'If he has a problem with it, then he's not the kind of guy I want to go out with.
'I'm a hopeless romantic and I see it as a great test of someone's character. Instead of focusing on it putting off men, I actually think it will help me find, "the one".
'I want to be upfront with any men I meet and tell them straight away about my condition. I don't want them to feel tricked into being with me.
'I will feel more comfortable if they know the truth and besides, if they run at the mention of MRKH then I don't want to be intimate with them.'
She says that as a teenager, she was blissfully unaware of her condition - with no idea that the development she was waiting for would never happen.
'When I was 14, my friends started talking to me about their periods. They started carrying tampons around, complaining about cramps and sharing notes on what it was like.
'For a year I waited to go through the same, until at 15, everyone I knew had started their period apart from me.
'
When scans showed nothing, she was referred to a gynaecologist, who immediately spotted something was wrong.
Miss Beck said: 'My other scan results had been sent to her and just from looking at them, she knew I had MRKH.
'She sat me down and basically explained that I didn't have a womb, or a vagina, that I was born without them and instead just had a small dimple in it's place.'
So mortified by what she had heard, she was too embarrassed to admit to family and friends she had the condition - let alone the prospect of telling any future boyfriends.
She said: 'I was too embarrassed to call my mum and talk it through with her, so instead, I sent her an email.
'She called straight back and came over to Guildford the next day from the Isle of Wight.
'Although mum was upset for me, she tried to focus on finding out as much about the condition as possible, so we could understand it.
'She also encouraged me to focus on the bright side. We laughed as we listed all the things I wouldn't have to go through, period cramps, childbirth, smear tests - to try and look on the bright side.'
Focusing on her treatment, Miss Beck was admitted to the Queen Charlotte and Chelsea Hospital in London, which specialises in the condition.
There, she was given dilation treatment, which involved using different sized dilators to try and stretch her vaginal canal - but was told if it didn't work, she would have to be operated on.
She said: 'I spent two days there, getting taught how to use the dilator and learning more about MRKH.
'The first time the nurse showed me how to use a dilator I nearly died of embarrassment. But now I've got used to it, I see it as any other form of treatment.
'At the hospital, they referred me to a network of other women who have the same condition. It was great to speak to other girls who felt like me.
'I stopped feeling so lonely and it also gave me hope as I spoke to women who had gone on to have a full sex life.'
Thankfully, her treatment has worked and if she continues she will not need surgery and when she chooses to, will be able to have intercourse.
Further down the line there are more difficult conversations she will have to have to have when she wants to have children.
She said: 'I'm not at an age when I'm thinking about kids, but I think that will hit me later on. I will use a surrogate, or adopt, but I will have to make sure any guy I meet is ok with that too.
'Again, I try and take it as a blessing that, unlike woman who discover they can't conceive when they are already trying for a baby, I have time to get used to the idea.'
For Miss Beck, her one hope is that the condition becomes more well known, so that other women realise they have it earlier than she did.
'I had only told five of my best friends, but then I realised it's not something I should be ashamed of.
'If I had cancer, or, any other medical issue, people would be supportive. So, I recently came out to everyone on Facebook, telling them about my condition.
'I was surprised at how positive everyone was, they said I was brave and beautiful, now I wish I had been open about it from the beginning.'

Nigerian socialite Taiwo Jamani dies after attack by business partner
37year old Jooda Akanbi attacked Jamani with a baseball bat on October 10th in broad daylight on Main Street in the north Dublin town at about 12.20pm after an argument broke out between them.
Mr, Jamani, a human resource specialist who owns Data Link Company in Dublin, suffered serious damage to his back and neck after his own friend attacked him. An eye witness told police that the two men first began shouting at each other, then they were pushing and shoving...
"I think one was waiting for the other because the boot of his car was open and there were two bats in it even before the fight began. Then the man with the bat held it high over his head and brought it down hard on the other man's head and he just slumped to the ground. It was shocking. It's not something you expect to see,"the eye witness said.
Jamani was rushed to the hospital where he finally succumbed to his injuries. He died in Beaumont Hospital in Dublin yesterday. Mr. Akanbi has been arrested for murder and is currently awaiting trial.
